Raleigh, NC, February 16, 2007- Morris and Associates, the industry leader in poultry chilling equipment, received a U.S. Patent for its JetBird® Bacterial Reduction and Temperature Stabilization System. Tests show that JetBird® decreases the incidence of positive salmonella tests by 50 to 60% and decreases average bird temperature by 2 to 4 deg.F.
The system designed for auger style poultry chillers features custom-engineered water jets, which create heavy turbulence in the chiller, breaking up the piles of birds for which auger chillers are notorious. In effect, birds are pushed across the width of the chiller, maximizing capacity and reducing the roll-back found in high-side chillers.
Breaking up the dense piles of birds allows for increased water flow around individual birds. This leads to decreased bacteria counts attributed to increased contact and vigorous scrubbing between the birds and antibacterial agents in the water, as well as better heat transfer for lower and more consistent bird temperatures, and a decrease in water temperature variation.
